Finished Pieces

The core of most of these items are modified circuits from children’s toys. In some cases custom built or found and unmodified circuits from other devices (such as audio amplifiers, timers or regulated power supplies) were added to expand a pieces’ functionality. Some pieces (such as the sequencers) do not incorporate any circuit bending at all and are built entirely from scratch.
I’ve always considered the form and visual presence of a piece to be as important as the functionality. A majority of the time dedicated to building these instruments is spent on designing cohesive, stylized control layouts and/or constructing specialized hardware and housings. I also enjoy adding purely aesthetic embellishments when time or budget allows. This is often done by carving designs into the housings with metal etching tools or by creating images with layers of cut away, colored vinyl.
Unfortunately this is far from a complete list of what has come out of my studio.
Documentation is a full time job in itself and is sometimes difficult to keep up on. I would LOVE to see (and would greatly appreciate) any photos or videos people have of casper creations in use, in the studio, on the road, etc…
If you are one of those kind souls who has documentation and would like to send it to me, you can do so by writing to pete@casperelectronics.com. I would really like to start a user photo section on this site. Only you can help make this dream a reality!
